Saturday Morning With The Pitter Patter Of Rain On The Roof Top

Saturday morning I was awakened by the pitter patter of rain which was music to my ears. There is nothing worse than having a “to do” list a mile long, the day off, and gorgeous sunny skies that just call your name to come out and have fun in. Clearly, we are very limited on our summer weekends here in the midwest. However, sometimes I really just need to have a full day to get things done and that is exactly what a rainy day offers me…the chance to not feel terrible wasting a sun filled summer day to do chores.

First thing off the list was to load up the SUV with every comforter, rug, and pillow we own in our house and off to the laundry mat we went. We prepared the washers, grabbed some magazines and read about summer fun while we waited….all while it was raining a steady stream of moisture from the skies above.

After this I returned home to prepare a big batch of vegetable soup to freeze since this is one of my favorite grab and go lunches in the fall of the year.

I even blended a few containers for my babies to enjoy for lunch. I typically offer my daycare parents the choice whether to bring store bought baby food or have home made baby food prepared at our home. Most jump at the offer of homemade since many families don’t cook on a regular basis these days.

I then needed to run a few errands, stop at the library to pick up some more audio books for my husband, finished cleaning the house, and then it was time for me to do something fun. All my chores were complete, the sun was trying hard to peak through the clouds and I was feeling good about my progress on the “to do” list. Our son was camping with friends, my husband was heading out to fish for awhile which, ultimately, left me alone and free to do as I wish.

I grabbed my workout bag to head to the gym for a Saturday sweat session and to also see the progress of the new remodel our gym is going through. We sort of have the inside scoop on this, since our son is the assistant manager at the gym, but I really wanted to see for myself how its coming along. I have no pics since I forgot my camera at home, but its coming along quite nicely. It’s a mess as of right now but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. I am really pumped to see the new cardio equipment they are bringing in….I hear its going to be really nice…..shhhh!

After the gym I did a little shopping. I am on a mission to find some new outfits to wear in Sedona in a few weeks.

The week ahead looks to be jammed packed with things that just all fell on the same week. We have a plan all worked out to stay on track with our active vacation training plan but I believe by Friday I may be exhausted with everything else added to the week. Although, having a plan is half the battle and we already have that so I feel confident we can try and make this work.

You all have a great week and I will stop back in for a quick hi later in the week if I can find some spare time. If not, hold your head high, smile and don’t forget to breathe…..that’s what I will be doing all week long.

I Need a Little Sunshine

In all honesty it’s been quite a blah week for me. Let’s see, rain for 4 of 5 days meant we were stuck inside for most of the week. However, that is not to say we did not have fun. One of my daycare kids requested a project that was beyond my doing so I passed her onto to my husband and they accomplished this together. Her hope was for a balance beam to do gymnastics on.

After it was constructed it needed a little jazzing up. So they took different colored duct tape and made it a rainbow balance beam. What could be better than that, right? It sure made that rainy day a little brighter.

In case you are wondering about any updates in regards to last weekends tragic accident at Devil’s Lake State Park that we witnessed, we know nothing new. I say this with sadness and hope. We have searched every single day for an update but have come up with nothing. We figure this may be good or bad but we are praying it means good things. Hopefully, this gentleman is recovering comfortably and there is nothing bad to update. Even though he has the right to his privacy, I just wish we knew if he will be ok in time. Either way, I still think of him often and keep praying that as long as we hear nothing it is all good.

Near the end of my week, I felt like the perfect storm had hit our home. I woke up crabby on Thursday, had my coffee, found the urge to start the laundry before all my little tykes arrived and walked into a basement of water!!!!!!!!!!! The female in me wanted to scream and just turn around and walk back upstairs and forget I ever decided to start the laundry. The wife in me said that someone has to clean it up and figure out what happened since my husband had already left for work. Well, the wife won and I cleaned it up, found the problem and then passed it on to the hubby anyhow. Not a great start to my day and it was only 5:30a.m., I could only imagine what the rest of my day would have in store for me.

Today will be a long day. I have a meeting regarding my daycare business to conduct after hours which means instead of 10 1/2 hours I will likely end up working almost 12 hours. Who in their right mind plans a meeting on a Friday after work? You guessed it, I did. What was I thinking? Anyhow, it is Friday and I could not be happier. Well, honestly, my mood would brighten drastically with a little sunshine.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Here’s To The Weekend…Cheers Everyone

This has been one of those weeks where the weekend just does not come fast enough. It has been one horribly stressful week here and I am in desperate need of some recovery time.

Monday was a typical Monday, no one is ever really happy to see this day of the week arrive. Nothing really too terrible to deal with just Monday. We actually made it to the gym for a great workout together which was the highlight of the day. All in all, a good day.

Tuesday we were blessed with an outside temperature of 91 and super humid. I was in heaven, my hubby was tolerable, our son stayed inside all day, and my daycare kids were somewhat on the grumpy side. We ended up skipping all the physical activity that we had planned and after dinner made a trip to Costco. I always have mixed feelings about shopping at warehouse stores. We always spend tons of money but we also find a few new items that I am looking forward to trying.

Wednesday I swear there had to be a full moon. It was cool and comfortable outside which meant everyone should have been very happy. Well, let me assure you, everyone was not happy at all. My daycare kiddos were a hand full and a half. Thankfully my husband came home just as tired as I was so we opted out of going to the gym that night and decided to go disc golfing. As we were leaving our son informed us that he was going to give it a try left handed (due to his healing broken collar bone) and join us. I was shocked but happy he decided to come. We all had great fun. Our neighbor joined us also and even received some great pointers on how to get her disc to go where she wanted it to go. Our son managed without too much frustration and my husband and I had a great time just playing the game as always. In honor of our son playing with his huge handicap, we all agreed to play the last hole left handed just like he had to do. This was quite amusing, took a few more throws than usual to reach the basket, and we all had a few laughs while trying to finish the game.

Then Thursday arrived. It started out with my husband sitting up in bed stating, “SHIT its 5 to 5!!!!!!!!!” Crap, I flew out of bed, packed his lunch while he got dressed, threw him together a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the road and he was out the door in 6 minutes. From bed to road in 6 minutes. EPIC!!! This was not a great way to start the day for either of us.

As for today, it’s Friday and I will be counting the hours until I get my last kisses and hugs goodbye from my little ones. I can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow morning until at least 6 a.m. which should not be a problem thanks to the bottle of margaritas that has been chilling in the frig since our trip to Costco Tuesday night.

Cheers Everyone;)

Have a great weekend!
