Where To Next?

You may be wondering why we did not reschedule our rock scrambling vacation. I know everyone else is because they have all asked that exact question. To be honest, we just could not make it what it would have originally been if we would have rescheduled. Which for me would have been even more of a disappointment. Our hiking guides were booked up, many plans at home would have needed to be rescheduled, and I am self employed and taking vacation days or switching them up last minute is not something I like to do to the families I offer daycare to every day. Cancelling was our best option right now, BUT it did not take me long to schedule our next adventure:) It’s already done!

However, this is going to be a little more than our typical vacation. Yes, we plan to hike, swim, fish, explore and spend time as a family. We also plan to research homes, communities, and check out the general public areas of our next destination. Why? Well let’s put it this way, very soon I will hopefully be able to bid a fine farewell to the state of Wisconsin. It’s time to find my happy place and this my friends is the first step in that direction.

We have a destination in mind but until we actually go and spend some quality time there we will not be sure. And we could not think of a better way to do this than to vacation in the area. We will be moving around every two days to a different location, which will be a hassle but worth it in the end. So far, I will say from talking with people in this area while making these plans I am completely and totally impressed. I know they are in the hospitality business and they are paid to be friendly, however, so are the people here in Wisconsin and friendly is very hard to find here in my opinion.

As for now we will be waiting patiently for Spring to arrive. I have some researching to do in regards to either snake boots or snake gators for this trip(I can’t believe I just said that), and I am really considering a new backpacking backpack. I have a fantastic small pack, a great large pack, but I could really use a mid range pack. Can you see a trip to Milwaukee’s REI coming up soon? Because I can:) Now, to persuade my husband to drive is the next battle. Although, he is pretty easily swayed so I am not too worried.

Does anyone have advice for snake gators/boots? I could really use some insight if you care to share.

Any recommendations on backpacking packs?

Sunday after our big shopping trip and a very long, uncomfortable bus ride to and from Chicago, my butt was dragging. I knew if I could just get myself in the front doors of the gym I would feel better. I was crabby, had a headache, did not feel like doing anything since I did not get to bed until way after my bedtime the night before(11pm), and had everything we purchased sitting on our table staring at me to put it all away when I woke up Sunday. Thankfully, my husband picked up on my bad mood pretty quickly and pitched in to help get everything done. Then it was all up to me whether I would attempt the gym or not. Which I am happy to say I DID!!!! And I was soooo happy, it really did brighten my mood and make me feel better:-)

Monday and Tuesday brought us a two day snow/rain/sleet storm in our area. Surprisingly enough this would normally just put me in a baaaad mooood but I was not really feeling too rough. I would not go as far as to say I was “happy” to see it snow, but either way I was not as moody as normal for the first snow fall. Maybe, just maybe, the Vitamin D is working.

Wednesday brought our first “mall walk” of the winter. Temps here have finally dipped to where I believe I could freeze to death if out for too long. I know, call me whimpy if you wish, everyone else does:-)

The rest of the week was pretty typical. We tried to follow our training plan as much as possible but I feel like we may have to change up the plan slightly. I may swap my off day for Friday and workout on Sunday since the weekends are when I have the most time and the gym is practically empty. We’ll see in the future, who really knows.

Let’s All Live A Little This Weekend

This weekend is predicted to be perfect for outdoor fun and adventure and I could not be happier. We all have the entire weekend off to spend it together doing what we love. Schedules have been pretty crazy lately so I plan to take full advantage of this time we have together as a family.

For now I will leave you with a thought and encourage you all to get out, have some fun, and enjoy your weekend. We plan to do just this!

Life’s Lessons…..So Far

When I was a teenager, I thought I knew it all. What teenager doesn’t, right? Little did I know how much I would learn after marriage, becoming a parent, and experiencing things throughout my life. Here are a few lessons I have learned that no one could have told me until I figured them out for myself.

1. Children are a gift from God

2. Marriage is work

3. Technology may make things faster but it does not mean it makes things better

4. Years pass faster the older you get

5. Don’t settle for good when there is better

6. You are what you eat

7. Live within your means

8. Do what makes YOU happy not what makes others happy with you.

9. Parenthood is a 24 hour/7 day a week job and the hardest job you will ever have

10. Have fun before you can’t

11. Say it today because tomorrow may be too late

12. You can’t buy happiness

13. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone

These are some lessons I have learned over the past 40 some years of my life so far. Some good, some bad, and some I am just glad I have learned before it’s too late.

Can you add to my list?

It’s SPRING

I am probably the happiest person on earth today because it’s SPRING 🙂

OK, so maybe I am not the only person happy about this fact but I think we should all celebrate together today. Let’s smile a little more. Let’s take a step outside and take a deep breath of fresh air. Let’s imagine the sprouting of little green plants that will soon poke through the ground in the coming weeks. Let’s imagine the leaves on trees reappearing and providing us shade to play under and let’s enjoy the extra hours of daylight that are upon us now.

I am so ready for everything about this season. I already have a good start on cleaning the garage. Shhhh, don’t tell my husband. This is best attempted while he is at work:)

Hubby and I made a trip to a local hardware store to stock up on charcoal for grilling season. I can taste those kabobs already.

We also made an extra purchase that will have me grinning from ear to ear this summer. My new lawn mower. There is just something about cutting the lawn that makes me so happy. Crazy, I know, but I enjoy it for some reason.

IMG_4024

No gas, no pulling a cord to start, no nothing. This is the model they had out for a floor display but we ended up getting the next size up that came with a bag also. I have never been so excited about something so unexciting. Now, I no longer have to run and get more gas because “someone” did not leave enough from the last time or they did not refill the can themselves when they emptied it!!! I also will never have to wait until there is someone here to start the lawnmower for me, because ours is too hard for me to start. I can just start mowing. Now, if only we had grass to mow….all things comes to those who wait. Right?

Hope you all enjoy today as much as I will.
